Aahuti in Critics' Society - Renu Rai

Biswa Bhakta Dulal namely known as Aahuti is leader of a unified Communist party(Maoist). He is an author of several books such as Naya Ghar, Skhalan, Gahugoro Africa,
Nepalma varna byavastha rah barga sangharsha, etc.
Aahuti has been actively engaged in Politics and fighting against '
untouchability/ dalit-mukti andolan.'

For two decades Aahuti has been wearing many hats from politics to authoring several books and working as dalit activist.
Despite of Aahuti's tight schedule, he kindly accepted Critics's Society's invitation. Mr. Aahuti talked about his opinions about caste system, untouchables, society and the problems within society.
He was impressed by the Nepalese in Hong Kong where some spend their 12-15 hours at work and still manage to pull themselves into such events.
He talked about how the caste system in Nepal had been rooted from the very begining.
Mr. Hangyuk Agyat's hard work was paid off who volunteered taking Mr. Aahuti to Hong Kong Library and showing around. We all should be very thankful to Mr. Hangyuk Agyat who played a main role in introducing a wise man to us.
Coordinator Mr. Hem Lawati initiated the program and talked about the program in brief. Mr. Aahuti talked spellbinding the room. It was a huge crowd, people were standing as there were shortages of chairs.
This program was being live boradcasted in himalayan radio.
He talked about Aesthetics. He said that different caste and people see things and admire differently. Someone who has seen a rose can find rose beautiful but to someone who has never seen a rose may not.
He emphasized on a type or style of writing that is essential on today's literature. "There should be changes brought in terms of literature writing. Let's write about indigenous people, our culture and about ourselves. Nepal is diverse in many ways: in culture, food, languages. If we can incorporate the food from various castes of Nepal, we will certainly have more food than China. Why not bring those things into light and let the world know about us?"
Right after Mr. Aahuti's talk ended, Hangyuk Agyat hurled him with questions. Such as what made him name himself as "Aahuti"? Niraj Rai volunteered collecting questions from the audience and Hangyuk interpreted to Aahuti. Ahuti in return, quenched audience's hunger by answering boldly.
Veteran journalist JB Pun concluded the program by giving a brief review about Ahuti's book. Mr. JB spoke, "Aahuti talked well. But I noticed that whatever he said tonight was a contrary to what he had written on this book(pointing at Aahuti's book)." There was a bit of disagreement between the two, but later friendly gestures of handshakes and smiles made clear that was a healthy disagreement.
After the event, seated in B&B puffing off his cigarette, he said he went to various library for 37 days and read books. Through his readings, gathered facts and figures about Nepal and it's caste system and also about the world. He would go to the library and returned home as the library closed. His friends thought that he was attending college. But he had only gone half way through various faculties such as Science, Engineering, etc. He is a good speaker who is able to hold audience into pin drop silence. He was so confident about this. Someone expressed, "The room was filled with pin drop silence." And he confidently said, "Sure. It was mean to happen." It seemed he was damn sure about his capability of swaying audience. He spoke humorously providing examples. Apart from occasional laughters from audience, the room had ears soley on him, audience were totally enchanted by his talk.
As a token of gratitude towards Critics' Society, Mr. Hem Lawati handed Mr. Aahuti white envelop comprising HK$3100. It was just a small effort.
This eighth episode was a one of a big crowd of audience.
