Dipendra Lama in Critic's Society's 3rd Episode - 'The changing facet of Nepalese films'

This special episode was held in Little Buds Kindergarten.
Mr Hem Lawati, the co ordinator of the Critic's society said, "Today's entrance fee is not restricted to $50. You can voluntarily present the money. The collected sum will be handed to Dipendra Lama." He also kindly requested everyone not to involve and engage in buying and selling tickets inside the premise.
Journalist JB Pun gave a brief introduction about film critic and Nagarik's senior reporter Dipendra Lama. Mr Pun informed the mass that Mr. Lama has been into journalism for 15 years and an established film critic.

Mr Lama said that he had opportunity to taste variety of Chinese cuisine. The octopus he ate for the fisrt time in hong kong disgusted him so much. It was interesting to learn that the octopus he ate was analogous to Nepali movies. He then went comparing Nepali film with octopus.
Octopus Vs. Nepali movie
1. The age of an octopus is only six months, so as the life of Nepali movie is short-lived less than a week. A female octopus dies shortly(after 2 months) after consummation. The Nepali movie only survives for a short time.
2. An octopus has 8 tentacles, a Nepali movie has 4 fights and 4 songs.
3. An octopus is fragile and is eaten by bigger fish likewise Nepali movies. A Nepali movie cannot be compared with that of bigger market Bollywood movie.
4. An octopus has no backbone. Likewise, the Nepali movies have no backbone and thereby no body form.
5. An octopus has 3 hearts, a Nepali movie however has no heart and it is simply lifeless.
6.An octopus is very nutritious source of calcium, potassium, phosphorus and selenium. The Nepali movies are null nutritious and fail to entertain the people.
He further said that Nepalese movies are in a crawling stage.
What interested him to movies
When he was around 10-11 he used to go to theatres to watch Hindi movies and later Chinese Kung fu. Moreover, he also read magazines which must have interested him to movies and thereby honing him into professionalism of film critic.
He mentioned about writer, Robert Mathew who said, "Everyone is a story teller and makes up his/her story in daily lives. Everyone has a story. But whoever makes a convincing story, he becomes a successful film maker." So a film maker should be able to convince audience by his script writing and presenting skills.
Apart from regular audience, the room was filled with people of film enthusiasts, film maker, editors etc.
In a conversation cameraman, Mr. Matrdeep Lohorung Rai who had made a movie said a amusing thing. He talked about a bald villain, ( had earlier fallen)who stands up after regaining his consciousness, only to find out with long hair. Mr. Rai only came to know about the size of the hair while editing. This is due to the time constraint in Hong Kong.
Mr. Suman Wanem who had received his Diploma in Direction from Bombay long time back is still a student and still learning the craft.
Similarly, Dipendra attended the queries of other participants like film director Arun Pradhan, film editor Prem BK, krishna gurung, Niraj Rai, Rabin Rai and Mousam Limbu.
This very special program was a good opportunity for film enthusiasts to learn, discuss, share, brainstorm and exchange their understandings and clear the air on Nepali movies.
